Dreaming of the cold beer in my fridge, I opened the front door. Before I had a chance to close it, Celina Hogg’s door flew open. Her rosy cheeks and the scent of spices and veggies made it easy to accept her invitation. Steve was already seated at her table. She urged me to sit down, hurried to the fridge and – returned with a beer. We devoured the tasty meal listening to her animated chatter. An hour later, we were on our way to our apartments.

When I arrived at the factory the following day, John’s assistant was already there. I briefed her, then we started to search the bushes and the yard. Everything seemingly out of the ordinary was bagged. We extended the search to the path behind the premises. We were about to give up when she found a bloodied patch of fabric and a part of a sole. “Presumably trousers and stilettos,” she stated matter-of-factly.
